Mumbai मेरी जान (My Love)

My Travel Log of Mumbai

I take time to roam heart of this beautiful city, my Mumbai with my buddies Sohit Satpute & Ninad Lakhekar. I live in suburbs of Mumbai n to reach Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CSTM), one have to travel by lifeline of Mumbai, Local Trains.

First stop was in front of CSTM formerly Victoria Terminus (VT), it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an historic railway station in Mumbai, India which serves as the headquarters of the Central Railways. Designed by Frederick William Stevens with influences from Victorian Italianate Gothic Revival architecture and traditional Mughal buildings, the station was built in 1887 in the Bori Bunder area of Mumbai.

Next stop was at the Municipal Corporation Building located in South Mumbai is a heritage building (‘V’ shaped as viewed from top) opposite to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus at the junction of Dadabhai Naoroji Road and Mahapalika Marg. It is also known as the Bombay Municipal Corporation Building, or BMC building for short.

Crawford Market (Marathi: क्रॉफर्ड मार्केट) (officially Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market, Marathi: महात्मा ज्योतिबा फुले मंडई) is one of South Mumbai’s most famous markets. It is named after Arthur Crawford, the first Municipal Commissioner of the city. The Market was later named after Mahatma Jotirao Phule after a long struggle by the President of Mahatma Phule Smarak Samiti, Mukundraoji Bhujbal Patil. The market is situated opposite to the Mumbai Police headquarters, just north of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station and west of the J.J. flyover at a busy intersection.

There are several Iranian hotels in this area so one must have Irani Chai (special Tea made with Iranian recipe). Later we visited Hutatma Chowk (Marathi: हुतात्मा चौक) (“Martyrs’ Square”) is the official name of a square in South Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

The square hosts Flora Fountain and was known by that name until 1960. It was officially renamed in 1960 in memory of the members of Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti, who lost their lives when police fired upon their peaceful demonstration. A statue of a “Martyr with a Flame” stands next to Flora Fountain. Then comes Building of Central Bank, David Sassoon Library & Jahangir Art Gallery with local artists outside. Later comes Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalay formerly known as Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, National Gallery of Modern Art & Police Headquarter. Later we went to causeway to visit heritage art shops

Now I couldn’t resist thing in my stomach so we headed to the best destination to have our dinner at Bademiya.

Finally I end my journey by my favourite shot.
